The winner of the third allfashion sourcing Young Designer Competition by Messe Frankfurt South Africa is Sinazo Janda with Hannah Wilson as runner-up. Cape Town based Sinazo wins an all-expenses paid opportunity to participate at Texworld Paris in February 2021 (or later in the year depending on travel restrictions), and a R15 000 cash prize. Hannah wins R5 000.

The allfashion sourcing event by Messe Frankfurt South Africa, a subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt, the biggest trade fair organizer with its own fairground, has gone virtual for the first time this year. Trading economics states that manufacturing and retail sales in South Africa suffered significant decreases from Covid-19, putting huge strain on businesses to keep their factories and stores trading. “To assist as much as possible in mitigating the economic effects of the pandemic, we have ensured that we do not cancel the event this year by investing into going virtual and enabling our exhibitors to still have the much-needed income generation that allfashion sourcing creates,” states Show Director, Kathryn Frew

In its third year, the allfashion sourcing Young Designer Competition offers young designers an opportunity to showcase their skill set through their interpretation of a predetermined design brief. The ten finalists stand to win prizes valued in excess of R80 000, with the main prize being an all-expenses paid opportunity to participate at Texworld Paris in February 2021 (or later in the year depending on travel restrictions), and a R10 000 cash prize for the winner.
allfashion sourcing virtual edition goes live
allfashion sourcing, the business oriented marketplace for the textile, fashion and leather industry, originally due to take place in Cape Town in October 2020, is now open for registration on a newly tried and tested virtual platform. Around 180 exhibitors are expected for the expo – that combines African creativity, design and manufacturing with international sourcing options. The virtual exhibition and fringe programme will take place from Tuesday 3 November to Thursday 5 November 2020.

In March 2020, Messe Frankfurt South Africa had announced the re-branding of ATF Expo and Source Africa to allfashion sourcing Cape Town, the premier sourcing event for Apparel, Textiles, Footwear, Leather & Lifestyle. The event was scheduled to take place from 13-15 October 2020 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The official launch of the new name is planned to be held in Cape Town at a future date yet to be determined.
